Motion graphic animation has quickly become a favorite of mine when it comes to the post production world. Professionally, I’ve been able to really grow my skills and explore different styles and techniques. Additionally, I have one example below from my time as a freelance videographer.

Why Cybersecurity Matters for Development, USAID, Fall 2022

Together with a team, I helped design, storyboard, and animate this video. Serving as part 1 of a 3-part series, this project had high visibility and status at USAID, and was a very high-stakes product to create. Since it’s launch, we have received high-praise for our work, even being told that our video is being used as the template for how they want other videos from clients to look. An employee at USAID wrote a piece for Medium, detailing the project and it’s importance. Though I helped plan and storyboard the full video, my animation parts can be seen from 01:37-02:22 and 04:49-05:08.

MAST Animation, USAID, Fall 2020

Developing the MAST animation has been my most rewarding project at Training Resource Group to date. This is, in part, because of how I was able to push my motion graphic style as an artist, but also with how I was able to push the client. I was able to generate full trust in a client that’s not usually experimental with their products and deliver a final video that was strongly received. I helped organize the production schedule and scripting for the video, and completed all of the post production on my own using a mix of Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro.

WISC Animation, USFS, Spring 2022

In conjunction with the clients, I drafted the script and storyboard for this animation. Though this video is a combination of open source b-roll, client provided b-roll, and animation, I decided to feature it here as the animation is what I’m most proud of. This was a very technical topic to try and visualize, and I didn’t have a great example to work off of. That being said, the animation piece at the 03:21 mark was highly praised by the clients who stated that I was able to explain the technical concept better than they ever could.

Sippin’ Again Lyrics Video, Freelance, Summer 2018

The following film is a freelance project I completed for a musician in Boone, NC. Sitting down with the musician, he was very open with how he wanted the video to look. I helped him develop his brand by proposing a retro feel to the video. I produced the intro recorder animation, along with the title sequence to show him how I saw his brand develop, based on his previous songs and marketing images. I then created the project using Adobe After Effects, and stock video from Archive.org. Overall both myself, and the client were pleased with the result. In the end, the video was never released, though it taught me valuable lessons as a freelancer that I still embody today.
